Payments, escrow and refunds
What is escrow on Volara?
Escrow is a neutral space where your money is kept safe between the payment and the flight. During this time, neither you, nor the pilot, nor Volara can access this amount. It is simply held securely until the flight takes place.
How it works
When the pilot accepts your request, the funds are captured and then held in escrow with our payment provider, Stripe. They stay there until the day of the flight. Once the flight has taken place, the contribution goes to the pilot and Volara keeps its service fee.
Why this is a good thing
This system protects everyone. You have the guarantee that your money is not paid to the pilot before the flight has actually taken place, and the pilot has the guarantee of being paid once they have taken you up.
