Is my aircraft eligible for cost-sharing?

Your aircraft must fall under EASA and must not be a 'complex motor-powered aircraft'. The vast majority of flying club aeroplanes and helicopters meet this condition.

What makes an aircraft 'complex'

An aeroplane is complex if it exceeds 5,700 kg at take-off, is certified for more than 19 passenger seats, requires two pilots, or has a jet engine (or more than one turboprop). For a helicopter, the thresholds are 3,175 kg, 9 seats, or two pilots. A single one of these criteria is enough to exclude it from cost-sharing.

A counter-intuitive case

A single-engine turboprop is not complex: a TBM or a PC-12 remains eligible. A twin turboprop, on the other hand, is not. It is surprising, but that is exactly what the regulation says.
